407 visa - Training visa

If you are seeking to undergo a specific training to be competent and skilled in a certain occupation, the SC 407 Training Visa is for you.

This temporary visa permits eligible sponsors to sponsor individuals to work and get organized workplace training. While the visa can be extended for up to two years, this visa will lead you to gather the work experience required to make employer sponsored work visa applications.

The SC 407 Training Visa operates under three different training schemes and your eligibility under each would depend on your qualifications and work experience.

407 visa basic requirements

  • Must be older than 18 years

  • Have an employer to sponsor your training

  • Hold a valid visa, if you are already in Australia

  • Have a score of at least 4.5 in the IELTS exam

Migration Process

Meet the eligibility criteria

Have an eligible sponsor

It's essential to have an eligible sponsor who is an approved temporary activities sponsor. Additionally, the sponsor must provide the occupational training directly. This ensures that the training is aligned with the visa requirements and that you will receive the necessary guidance.

Making the applications

We make your sponsorship and visa applications, ensuring that all the required information is provided and the required documents are submitted.  We will be accessible to resolve any questions and provide timely information on the status of your application.

Occupational training types

There are three occupational training types for the SC 407 visa for which you will qualify depending on the kind of training you are looking for.

  • Occupational training required for registration - This scheme is specific to trainees who are seeking to obtain occupational registration, membership, or licensing in Australia.

  • Occupational training to improve skills in an eligible occupation - This is particularly for individuals who have an occupation in the skilled occupation list.

  • Occupational training for capacity building overseas -

    • Overseas qualification- Structured workplace training for up to six months in Australia

    • Government support-Structured occupational training in the workplace that has the support of Australian government body or an overseas government

    • Professional development- Programs of face-to-face teaching. It is for overseas employers to send their managerial or professional employees.

Types of sponsors for the SC 407

A sponsor must be one of the following types of organisations to be able to sponsor an employee under the SC 407 visa:

  1. An organisation lawfully operating in Australia
  2. Government agency
  3. Foreign government agency
  4. Religious Institution

Requirements of a temporary activities sponsor
