How to create an ImmiAccount?

What is an ImmiAccount?

An ImmiAccount is an online system used by the Australian Department of Home Affairs for visa, citizenship and immigration services.

What can you do with an ImmiAccount?

  • Lodge visa applications online

  • Upload supporting documents

  • Track the status of your application

  • Communicate with the Department securely

  • Update personal details when needed

Who needs an ImmiAccount?

ImmiAccount is essential for a wide range of users, including:

  • International Students applying for student visas or post study work visas

  • Skilled migrants applying for work visas such as SC 482 or SC 186

  • Skilled migrants applying for SC 190, SC 189 or SC 491 through the skilled migration program

  • Employers or Sponsors lodging nomination applications

  • Family Members of visa applicants (e.g. for partner or dependent visas)

  • Migration Agents or Legal Representatives managing client applications

What do you need, to create an ImmiAccount?

Before you create an ImmiAccount, you will have to have:

  • A valid email address that you check regularly

  • Your full legal name as it appears on your passport

  • A secure internet connection

How to create/register for an ImmiAccount?

Step 1: Click on this link here and enter your email address

Step 2: Go to your email inbox and check for an email from the Department and get the Verification code. Enter you verification code in the dialog box and click continue.

Step 3: Fill the blanks with relevant details on the dialog box and click continue

Here you have to select the type of ImmiAccount you are to create. There are two types of accounts:

  1. Individual- This type of ImmiAccount is appropriate if you are creating an account for your own application or if you are filling an application on behalf of your family or friend
  2. Organisation- This type of ImmiAccount is appropriate if you are creating an account for an organisation, a company or as a registered agent

You also have an option to tick whether you need LEGENDcom. LEGENDcom is an electronic database of migration and citizenship legislation and policy documents. Its subscription based where you will have to purchase this service. So if you are interested in accessing the database you can tick the box.

Step 4: Here you have to enter a password and provide 3 security questions and answers. Make sure you remember your username and password as they will always be required to log in to ImmiAccount.

Logging in for the first time

After you have registered/created your ImmiAccount, you can go back to the Department of Home Affairs page here and enter your username and password. Once you click Login you will be directed to your dashboard where you can:

  • Start a new application

  • View saved applications

  • Upload documents

  • Access messages from the Department

What to do if you forgot your username or password to log in to your ImmiAccount?

If you forgot your username or password, you can go to the login page of the ImmiAccount and click on the “I have forgotten my ImmiAccount username or password”. You can find this on the bottom right of your login page. Once you click on the relevant information that you forgot, you will receive an email with the username or password. The email will be sent to the email address that you provided when you created your ImmiAccount.

If you can't find an email in your inbox, check your spam or junk email folder.
