482 visa requirements
If you meet the following requirements, then you may be eligible for the 482 visa:
- Have an occupation in the relevant skilled occupation list
- Have a substantive or a bridging visa if you are already in Australia
- Be nominated by an approved sponsor
- Currently work in your nominated occupation
- Have at least 2 years of work experience in the nominated occupation or in a related field
- Have a positive skill assessment (if applicable)
- Have at least 5.0 IELTS

The streams of the 482 visa
Each stream has its own eligibility requirements
Core Skills stream
- Occupation must be in Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL)
- Be paid a salary at or above the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT), which is at AUD 76,515
- Trades workers, machinery operators and drivers, and laborers will be eligible provided these occupations are present in the Core Skills Occupation List.
Specialist Skills stream
- Occupation must be in the general skilled occupation list.
- Be paid a salary at or above the Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT), which is at AUD 141,210.
- Trades workers, machinery operators and drivers, and laborers will NOT be eligible, even if it is present in the general skilled occupation list.
Labour Agreement stream
Most of the eligibilty requirements for this stream depends on the agreement the employer has with the government.
