Our Services

Assisting you to find the most suitable skilled occupation

Making your skill assessment application

After our recommendation on the best occupation to move forward with, we will thoroughly review the eligibility requirements to obtain a skill assessment with the designated skill assessing body.

We will advise you on the steps to take to qualify for the skill assessment. Thereafter, we will carefully prepare and submit your skill assessment application with the respective body and work to ensure you obtain a positive skill assessment outcome.

Expression of Interest and Registration of Interest

With a positive skill assessment outcome, we proceed to lodge your Expression of Interest with the Australian federal government. We will then make the Registration of Interest as required by the state in which you seek a nomination.

Making your visa application

If you receive an invitation to apply for the visa, we then prepare and submit your visa application with all the documents required within the 60 days time limit.

Our lawyers at MJ Legal take great care in preparing all your documents and applications to ensure that you are successful at every step of the migration process.

190 Visa Eligibility Requirements

Are you eligible to apply for a SC 190 visa? First, you must meet the federal government requirements

  • Be between 18 - 44 years of age at the time of invitation
  • Have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupations list
  • Obtain a positive skill assessment for your nominated occupation
  • Score at least 65 points
  • Have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 in each band or PTE score of 50 in each component
  • Receive an invitation to apply from the federal government
  • Be nominated by a state or territory government
  • Meet the Australian health and character requirements

State nomination requirements

In order to apply for a skilled visa you should be nominated by an Australian state or territory.

The federal government publishes the annual allocations and the spots available for the SC 190 visa in all Australian states. The states of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory then publish their nomination requirements. Under the state nomination requirements, you may need to have higher points, and satisfy specific employment and residency periods within the state.

States usually have several pathways for skilled migration through the SC 190 visa such as the graduate pathway, residency pathway and the offshore pathway.

How to meet your skill assessment requirement?

Ready to apply for a SC 190 visa? Make sure your nominated occupation is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). You can check the skilled occupations list here.

You must also check if your occupation is on the relevant state skilled occupation list. Occupations that have a skill shortage in Australia are more in demand and provide you better chances of obtaining PR.

After you recognize the occupation that is most suitable to you, you’ll need to get a skill assessment. The skill assessing body and requirements will depend on your nominated occupation. We will assess your eligibility and make your skill assessment application in the most compliant manner. Your skill assessment must be valid at the time you are invited to make the visa application.

Have the requisite points for the Skilled Nominated visa?

For the SC 190 visa, it is essential that you score at least the minimum points required by the department, i.e. you must have at least 65 points on the Australian points test calculator. Additionally, you may be required to have the specific points required by the relevant state or territory government.

Points are awarded for age, educational qualifications, English language proficiency, and work experience.

The more points you have, the higher the chance of being nominated.
