How we will help you sponsor an employee to your business for an SC 482 visa

Step 1: Become a Standard Business Sponsor (SBS)
Before you can sponsor a skilled migrant, the business needs to be approved as a Standard Business Sponsor. This is essentially a licence granted by the Department of Home Affairs to the employer/business to be able to sponsor the skilled migrant.
What to do you need to become a standard business sponsor?
- Be a business operating in Australia—We’ll help you prepare the documents to prove your business is legally established and actively trading.
- Have no adverse information regarding your business—we’ll assess your business and address concerns to ensure you meet Home Affairs' requirements.
- Demonstrate a strong record of commitment to employing local labour—we’ll guide you in showcasing your commitment to hiring Australian citizens and permanent residents.
- Must declare that you will not engage in discriminatory recruitment practices—we will ensure that your hiring policies are nondiscriminatory.
- Agree to sponsorship obligations—We will break down your legal obligations so you know exactly what to expect as a sponsor.
- Pay the SAF Levy (tax deductible)—We’llcalculate and help you meet your SAF Levy obligations.

Step 2: Apply for the Nomination of the employee
Once you are approved as a Standard Business Sponsor, the next step is to nominate the employee by submitting the nomination application to the Department of Home Affairs. This stage is about proving your business case for employing the nominee, and we at MJ are experts at building a strong nomination application.
How can you submit a strong nomination application?
To build a strong nomination application, you’ll need to provide key supporting documents, such as:
- Labour Market Testing—This is a job advertisement that needs to be run for at least 4 weeks to show that there are not suitable Australian citizens or permanent residents. We will run the advertisement and meet all the technical requirements.
- Australian Market Salary—This is a report that is made to identify what an Australian worker would be paid for the same job. We will prepare the report so that you don’t have to take the hassle of preparing it.
- Eligibility of the role—A detailed job description and proof the position is genuine will have to be demonstrated. We will help you in selecting the exact occupation that aligns with the relevant occupation list and its job description.

Step 3: SC 482 visa application
The final stage of sponsoring the employee is to apply for the visa application. Here the employee’s eligibility is the main focus. The employee will have to demonstrate
- Skill and qualifications—We will assess their documents and highlight the experience and skills that matter the most.
- English language, health, and character—we will walk you through the requirements and flag if there are any issues.
We will also liaise with the Department to keep you updated on any further requests from the Department.
