Student Visa Extension

Whether you're nearing the completion of your studies and considering the Temporary Graduate Visa, or you're seeking to extend your current student visa, our team of experts are ready to guide you every step of the way.

Being experts in devising permanent residency pathways for international students, we assist you with making your student visa extension and post study work visa applications ensuring that you are on your shortest pathway to becoming a permanent resident.

Is your Student Visa expiring soon?

If your student visa is nearing expiration and you have not completed your course, getting an extension of your student visa would be the best option available to you. A student visa extension is granted for the duration of your course and would ensure that you have a valid visa to stay on until your course finishes.

If your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) provides a course end date further than your student visa expiry date, you will be able to apply for a student visa with the same CoE. However, if your course is continuing and your current CoE does not cover such dates, you will have to obtain a new CoE from your university and make a student visa extension application with the new CoE.

Upon the completion of your course, you will then be able to apply for Temporary Graduate (SC 485) Visa based on the qualification that you complete.

Not sure if your course leads to Permanent Residency?

It is always important that the courses you study always provide a direct pathway to permanent residency and leads to an occupation in the Australian skilled occupation list. If your course does not lead to permanent residency, it would be a wise decision for you to change your course and commence studies on a pathway that leads to permanent residency.

If you are changing your course to a course AQF level below your principal course, you will need to apply for a new student visa once you obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment(CoE) .

Changing your course can be complex and tricky. It is always important that you obtain professional advice prior to changing your course to ensure that you are not in breach of any migration regulations.

Your course doesn't lead you to PR?

If your course doesn't lead you to a PR pathway it is recommended that you enrol into a course that will lead you to a PR pathway, before you apply for your Temporary Graduate Visa. Because the Australian government has stopped visa hopping where holders of Temporary Graduate Visas can no longer apply for a student visa. So, if you do not plan your PR pathway while on your student visa, your PR pathway options will be very limited.
