Dependent Visas

A concern for most temporary visa holders in Australia is about whether they can bring their dependents to Australia and keep their family unit together. The Australian government has provided a way for eligible dependents of the primary visa holder to join them in Australia for the duration of their visa. So if you are the spouse or de facto partner or a child of a temporary primary visa holder, you can qualify to accompany the primary visa holder as a dependent.

Proving your relationship

To be an eligible to apply as a dependent, you will have to prove your relationship to the primary visa holder.

If you are a partner or a spouse of the primary visa holder, you can provide your marriage certificate or de facto registration certificate. If you have not registered your relationship as a de facto relationship, we can prove your relationship with other evidence such as your rental agreements to show that you have been living together for more than 6 months. To further support your application, you can also provide your joint bank account statements, photographs and communication records.

2.Children

For your children, you will have to provide their birth certificates or their adoption papers. If your children are above the age of 18, you must also provide evidence of their dependency on you such such as their school records, financial support documents and health insurance.
